Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Sales Manager to join our growing irrigation business in Scotland.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new business, managing existing customer relationships, and driving sales growth across the irrigation sector. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong commercial background who enjoys working with customers, developing solutions, and building long-term relationships.
You will work with customers across sectors such as agriculture, horticulture, landscaping, sports turf, golf courses, commercial developments, and water management, providing practical and cost-effective irrigation solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve company revenue and growth targets.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities throughout the UK.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers.
- Manage the full sales process from initial enquiry through to quotation, negotiation and project handover.
- Visit customer sites to understand requirements and develop appropriate irrigation solutions.
- Prepare quotations, proposals and commercial tenders.
- Work closely with the technical, design and installation teams to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Maintain an accurate sales pipeline and provide regular sales forecasts and reports.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity and emerging opportunities within the irrigation industry.
- Attend trade shows, industry events and customer meetings to promote the company and develop new relationships.
- Negotiate pricing and commercial terms while protecting company margins.
- Identify opportunities for additional products, services and ongoing maintenance contracts.
- Ensure a high level of customer service throughout the sales and project lifecycle.
- Contribute to the development of the company’s overall sales and marketing strategy.

The successful candidate will be someone who is commercially driven, confident dealing with customers and able to develop technical solutions into successful sales:
Essential
- Proven experience in a sales or business development role.
- Strong communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- A proactive approach to identifying and winning new business.
- Ability to manage multiple sales opportunities and projects simultaneously.
- Good commercial awareness and understanding of margins and profitability.
- Confident using CRM systems, Microsoft Office and other standard business software.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel throughout Scotland and occasionally elsewhere in the UK.
Desirable but not essential
- Experience within irrigation, agriculture, horticulture, landscaping, sports turf, golf or water management.
- Technical understanding of irrigation systems, pumps, filtration, pipework, controls or water management.
- Experience selling technical products or project-based solutions.
- Existing contacts within the Scottish agricultural, horticultural, landscaping, golf or sports turf sectors.
Personal Attributes
The ideal candidate will be a results-driven sales professional who enjoys being out on the road, meeting customers and finding practical solutions to their challenges.
You will be comfortable discussing both commercial and technical requirements and will have the confidence to develop relationships from initial contact through to successful project delivery.
Experience in irrigation is highly desirable, but we will also consider candidates from related industries who have a strong technical sales background and a genuine interest in the irrigation sector.
