Turf Irrigation Services (Scotland) Ltd is the Scottish irrigation installer of Toro, Hunter and Rain Bird irrigation products. Formed in 1994 by Quentin and Margaret Allardice, to fill the space in the Scottish market the Company has recently become part of the MJ Abbott Group.
The combination of product distribution, system design, and installation and maintenance services operating upon a regional basis has created a company capable of undertaking any turfgrass or landscape irrigation project using in-house experience, expertise and resources.
TIS has a plethora of high quality of on-time contracts under its belt: The courses of St Andrews Links Trust, including “THE OLD COURSE”, Glasgow Commonwealth games pitches, 36 holes at Archerfield Links and countless football clubs including Celtic, Southampton and Bournemouth.
In addition to these larger schemes, there are hundreds of private members clubs and public golf courses, which benefit from our systems, designed, installed and serviced.

TIS personnel’s in-depth knowledge and experience of irrigation equipment, its use, operation, maintenance and design background, plus installation operations and techniques ensure the successful completion and ongoing operation of efficient, reliable and cost effective automatic irrigation systems.
Dedicated to aftercare and services TIS has three trained and eager service engineers servicing and maintaining hundreds of golf clubs, bowling greens and sportsgrounds across Scotland and the north of England.

Meet the TIS (Scotland) team
Our experienced team delivers specialist irrigation design, installation and maintenance services, trusted by leading sporting venues and golf courses across Scotland since 1994.
Siobhan Smith has been part of the TIS (Scotland) Ltd team for nearly 20 years, progressing from office junior to the role of Director in that time.
Siobhan heads up the office team ensuring the Contracts and Service projects are co-ordinated, well provisioned and that all tenders and quotes are completed in time.
Shaun joined TIS (Scotland) Ltd as Director in 2024.
Prior to joining TIS (Scotland) Ltd, Shaun had extensive experience in the golf and irrigation industry, with first joining the industry in 2001 as a Greenkeeper. Since then, roles have included Golf Course Manager, Golf and Leisure Manager & most recently Area Sales Manager with Rain Bird covering UK, Ireland & Iceland.
Shaun works across the business, with primary focus on existing customers, new business development and contracts.
Neil Porteous is a University Graduate in Civil Engineering; he joined the business straight from Heriot Watt University. In a short space of time he progressed from an installation engineer to his current position.
He is proficient with all of the specialist machinery and has developed the necessary leadership skills to head the installation teams. His administrative skills are exemplary.
